Re: WK2 strange placement for parts

are there any actual documented cases of people needing to change the battery? I've seen a lot of complaints about battery location, but no actual stories of having to do the swap. Maybe we should wait to see the shelf life of the battery before complaining?

As for cabin filter location - my last 5 cars have had it in the same spot. Very easy to swap out.

So....if the battery is DEAD, how do you move/raise the passenger front seat if it's powered by electricity? Another engineering mystery....Ha!

Re: WK2 strange placement for parts

My merc clk had the battery (old battery type) in the trunk first and only time I had to replace it 8 years!! I would think the Jeeps would be the same. It really pays to have them protected from the elements.

Re: WK2 strange placement for parts

I had a BMW with the battery in the Trunk. Battery was still going strong at 8 year mark when I traded in. Realize this was strong as my commute is ~3 miles one way and with below zero winter weather that battery took a beating.

I was glad to see the battery was not in the engine compartment. Hope you don't have to remove the seat to get it out (that also seems like poor engineering), even if it does last 8-10 years it will suck to not be able to easily swap.

Simple answer. Just hook up jumper cables to the remote battery hookups under the hood.

Oh man, my parents had an 87. The thing had a hole in the catalytic converter and man did it stink. The damn thing was four wheel drive which i still find amazing.
