No, some of us just isn't willing to pay for doo-daads (top price doo-daads I may add) that is other wise useless and would cost us a shit load more in the long run. Cheap isn't the word, smart is the word that I would use. Now if I was a millionaire would I buy it? Yep, but thats because I would be able to burn $20s and $50s with out crying about. But until then, I'll take my cars simple, thank you.

Woo Hoo, so if and when my KK is down, I might be able to get a WK for a rental but what a shot in the foot for those that try to trade end their 3-5 year old $45K WKs and only can get 5K for it.

As one of the apparently nefarious cheapskates hereabouts, I'd like to add that I would gladly pay for something like OnStar, especially with the anti-theft feature, which Jeep isn't offering, at least yet. And this thread's coverage of air suspension reliability has been mighty helpful in moving us away from that un-cheap option, even though it would help during the occasional monster snowstorm. Presumably warranty coverage on that would be only three years?

Yes that is what I want them to put on the new jeep as they promise u connect guardian, something similar to gm onstar.

Milous, say they still might add it later this year, but he saw some document where it is on the 2012 jeep.

Lincoln tried to do something like onstar about 10 years ago and failed. I'm sure that Chrysler will do the same thing LOL

Most Grand Cherokees in our area at least, are LEASED, and this won't change. So nobody will be trading theirs in. They will be turning them in..... all the while crying about overmileagefees each and every time.

Re: WK2 Testdrive/Ordering Experience

My local dealer finally got a 2011 in... brilliant black Laredo X 4WD with the V6, gray leather interior.

First impressions of the exterior were great - it's a beautiful vehicle. Rugged yet refined IMO. Took a long walk around it... really dig the body lines.

First impressions of the interior were that it was leaps and bounds better than the WK1. When looking at it I was really trying to compare it to my WK that I had, and not my truck. It was very comfortable.

Took it for a drive and wasn't thrilled with the V6, but it wasn't that bad. I'd have to have a HEMI though. The salesman said they have an Overland on order and that it should be in in around a week or so. I'm afraid if I drive it I might buy it.... lol.

Re: WK2 Testdrive/Ordering Experience

Has anyone ordered a wk2 with an offroad package? I'm ready to order an Overland here in Denver, but I'd like the OR2 package -- even though the 20" wheels look so much better. If anyone added a package, did it add extra time? Also, while I'm at it... I'm going back and forth on engines still, based on mixed opinions on this forum. I have an 04 WJ Limited with the standard 4.7 V8. I noticed the engine really struggling as I pushed it up a mountain road (@ 9000 ft elev) trying to pass someone this weekend -- almost redlining - had to keep backing off the gas. I keep hearing how great the PentaStar is and how the 5.7 is old technology and has a lag (or that it's been tweaked now, maybe? ). Anyone test drive one of the new beasts on a mountain road... or can anyone give me some insight? I want the power to get up these hills and I was set to order the hemi until I started reading negative comments. Thanks.

In order to get the OR2 package on the Overland, as I understand it, you have to get the Hemi anyway. Besides, the initial test drives for the media were out in Moab, UT, and I read a couple folks saying that if you needed much grunt at high altitudes, you'd be better off checking the box for the Hemi anyway. About the only stuff the OR2 package seems to add on the Overland are tow hooks and skid plates (along with the drop to 18" rims); the 4x4 already has Select-Terrain and Quadra-Lift. You could just ask the dealer about adding the skid plates and tow hooks and grab yourself some 18" rims from the aftermarket with aggressive off road tread for when you do intend to go rock hopping and use the 20" ones for regular driving.

IMO, the Pentastar is just fine for normal driving at "regular" altitudes, but if you are planning to push it, especially in higher elevations, get the Hemi.

Re: WK2 Testdrive/Ordering Experience

Perfect, SOLD on the Hemi now. I'll talk to the dealer about the OR packages, you make good points. There are a few other features with OR2, but they aren't that important -- though the dealer did mention that he likes the Quadra Drive with OR2.
