I'm becoming convinced that somewhere they have a "Wheel of Equipment."

Around and around and around it goes, what gets finally put on the vehicle, NOBODY KNOWS!

Re: WK2 Towing questions w/o Tow Grp IV

It's Overland Roulette!!!

For what it's worth, I ordered my Overland on 7/2. Jeep customer service told me last week that it would NOT include the Quadra-Lift.

Re: WK2 Towing questions w/o Tow Grp IV

Also, more pertinent to the topic of this thread, I've actually seen three different permutations of the Tow Group IV on the Overland w/the 5.7 while just browsing window stickers on dealer sites:

1. As a $695 Option (i.e., $1495 for the 5.7, $695 additional for the Tow Group),

2. INCLUDED in the $1495 for the 5.7 as part of a package, and

3. Included in the package for the 5.7, but with the total package price at $1995.

Re: WK2 Towing questions w/o Tow Grp IV

Found some more fuel for the fire:

This is documentation of what the Jeep rep was telling me (as stated in the beginning of the thread) in ref to QL II and the Tow Group IV.

I found it at two sections:

http://www.media.chrysler.com/dcxms/...e_Features.pdf

and

http://www.2011jeepgrandcherokeepres...-features.html

"Trailer Tow Group IV (V-8 only)
Heavy-duty engine cooling, engine oil cooler, 220-amp alternator,
rear load-leveling suspension (not available with Quadra-Lift air
suspension system)
, full-size spare tire, steel spare wheel, Class
IV receiver hitch with 7- and 4-pin wiring harness."

I'm still trying to find out why TG IV along with the QL II is not showing up in the order system (at my dealer). Maybe someone read the above statement and thought the disclaimer applied to the whole pkg and not just the Rear Load Leveling System.

I've seen in one unofficial reference stating that the QL II will compensate for trailer loads, but with all the changes that are going on, I'd like to see some official documentation or real world experience.

Thoughts?

Re: WK2 Towing questions w/o Tow Grp IV

I went to the dealer today. Here are my 2:

QL = Quadra-Lift Air Suspension (SER) must not be confused with QDII = Quadra-Drive II 4WD System (AWB). There is no QLII.

Quadra-Lift (SER) is available only on the WKJS74-Grand Cherokee Overland 4X4, and there it is standard equipment, including a tow package. If you order the V8 engine (EZH), that tow package defaults to Group IV (AHX) with the 220 amp alternator, heavy duty engine cooling etc. For the WKJS74 only, EZH also includes Quadra‑Drive II (AWB).

The above info is from a factory publication for dealers that was updated 7/20/10.

So, to get all the chassis goodies, just order WKJS74 and EZH. I also ordered Off-Road Adventure II (AWY), which is also available only on the WKJS74, because it was the cheapest way to get the higher aspect ratio tires for the rough country road I live on. And then, of course, I wanted the sexy 730N media system (RER) with NAV, Bluetooth and all.

I believe Jeep packages the various options the way they do to prevent customers from buying incompatible configurations that may get them into trouble and jeep into law suites.

BTW, my car was ordered 8/2/10, is in Status C (tentative schedule), Scheduling Priority 1 (sold order), Build Priority 01, has a VON, but no VIN yet. The dealer will check again for the VIN tomorrow. He says I may see my car at the end of September.

This is an informative and very useful post. Confirming much of what has been speculation as long as all is true, which it seems to all make sense..

I ordered the WKJS74 and was curious as to how or why QDII was on the build sheet that CSR from Chrysler was looking up (but SER was not showing up even though I ordered July 31st). I also have the EZH Hemi package, this is $1995, assuming that AHX was the increase from 1495, however according to your information it seems as if AHX (Tow IV) is standard and the extra $500 is the QDII.. The price of that option. People have come to ask and be told Tow is standard on Overland.. Even though an employee has seen Overlands built with and without Tow packages, with and without QL.. This is what adds to all our confusion. Maybe they are pre June 22nd orders..

Re: WK2 Towing questions w/o Tow Grp IV

If I was going to order it would be like this very simple....

1 blackberry pear overland

430n radio

v8 hemi with the 20 inch tire

quadra drive II

since off road group would give me 18 inch tire, and skid plate, and front tow hooks, and trail rated badge on the driver side under the chrome mirror, and my current order would not.

I would buy my front tow hooks from mopar, and also my skid plates.
