I'm putting my flame suit on, because I know this is a Jeep forum and some of you are one eyed or maintain that strait line speed isn't important or the Jeep is fater over 100mph or whatever. blah blah fkn blah. LOL - fact is, a BLOODY seven seater brick of a Land Rover will beat you off the lights! Oh the shame! lol
Fact is I owned a GC for last 9 years. In those 9 nine years I never had another SUV owner ever roll up next me and want to race. Knowing that, why would I care which one is faster to 60. When I want to go fast I take out the Challenger. That's one of my toys. Other occasions the GC is fine for what I need it for.

Re: WK2 VS LR4 and 4 Runner in Motor Trend

I'm with the Aussie wanker on this one too ... It's a shame that a Chrysler made 5.7L V8 engine is only displacing 330 HP when Land Rover beats it even the POS Ford can bring a 5.0L engine that can put out 412 HP with 390 lb-ft torque ... come on now Chrysler really is disappointing in this aspect, let's hope they can redeem themselves with the SRT edition to beat it's other rivals but doubt it though ...

Whatever. Let me know when you accomplish the following:

1) Actually FIND a Land Rover in traffic. They aren't all that plentiful, mainly because their reputation precedes them.
2) Get challenged to a drag race, which you then lose.

Then I'll wish somebody would smack you upside your stupid head because racing on public streets is foolhardy, dangerous, and irresponsible. If you need six second 0-60 to drive on the streets, you're doing it wrong.

Yes, the Grand Cherokee is not the fastest SUV on the market. So be it. If that's a problem for you, then it is a problem for you. Don't buy one. But you'll be missing out on a great vehicle because you insist on having a drag racer and not a refined, comfortable, and competent SUV that also happens to be quite a good value.

Well we're not mainly talking about 0-60 here I don't think anyone is, his main point was proving that the Jeep used to beat the stupidcharged Land Rover and now can't even keep up with the base model and he used the getting smoked as an example but u took to heart LOL

The point being is that Chrysler has really disappointed in this aspect, no matter what kind of driver you are, there are always times you want some extra giddy up from ur ride and to only deliver 330HP for a car that weighs 4500 lbs is merely an umph IMHO

lol, who the fack do you think you are? lol

Mate, I don't need to prove anything on the street, I don't race on the street, I have real race cars (yes, plural) for that.

Having a fast SUV is about knowing you have a fast SUV, not neccesarily using it.
It's akin to having a fast sports car. I also have a quick Nissan GTR, but do I race it on the street? No. I don't need to prove anything to anyone, but I know it's fast, and if the time or situation arises, I can exercise it.

You need to wake the fhuck up Champ, we aren't all living in your little bubble, I'm in Australia, the GC aint fkn cheap like it is there, so, harden up, stop taking every bit of criticism as personal, and have a cry elsewhere.....

While there's no such thing as "too fast," there's certainly such thing as "fast enough." The complaint is indeed about the 0-60; that's what the griping is about, since the GC catches up after that. Obviously Jeep decided there wasn't much call to keep the speed edge. Times have changed. We no longer live in a day where absolute speed matters, good enough is just fine when you pick up a few more MPG in trade. That's the new way of thinking.

Well, GEEZ, dude, your location reads as "deep in yo' mummy," and my mummy isn't in Australia. Take you at your word, you get mad.

Seriously, though, I do have a point- if the speed is that big a deal, this is obviously not the vehicle for you.

Re: WK2 VS LR4 and 4 Runner in Motor Trend

On another note here, I saw one of those new 4Runner's in traffic while going into the Lincoln Tunnel and I must say that thing is a beast next to my Jeep. Thing was mammoth.
