So I have decided to order one.

I guess to put it simply just because you cannot afford something doesn't make it junk...
I think the issue here has more to do with envy then actual first hand experience.

To prove my point I will admit I would much rather have a Range Rover Supercharged then an Overland... but at the moment I don't have the extra 60k.
Ok bash me on my mistyped words ... I meant that the X5 is a junk car when it comes to off road capabilties, the car is sold as an SUV and doesn't even act as one, it's perfect for the city driver who wants an SUV but far from a rock crawler and true SUV capabilities ... I have family members who own X5's and range rovers and cayenne's they're all nice luxury vehicles that really can't do shit when it comes to off roading for the exception of the range rover ... so like Brad says before you stick to me, maybe u need to know what the whole conversation was about, and read a couple of posts above that we were talking about a completely different subject and let's stick to that subject cupcake ... thank u

I think the '10 4runner will be a good deal quicker than the V6 WK2.

I currently own a 4Runner and it's a great vehicle for sure, but I hate the styling on the new 5th generation 4Runner. It's horrible and I'm so disappointed in Toyota for wrecking the looks of the 4Runner. The interior is also terrible now.

Yes, it is very capable offroad. More so than most people think. But your mother-in-law's '07 doesn't have electronic locking diffs. It just had a torsen center diff that is lockable. The front/rear axles have ATRAC, which is basically a brake actuated traction control system that distributes torque from side to side. So if you have the center diff locked, you'll have an equal split from front to back and the side-to-side is handled by the ATRAC.

Then I'll wish somebody would smack you upside your stupid head because racing on public streets is foolhardy, dangerous, and irresponsible. If you need six second 0-60 to drive on the streets, you're doing it wrong.

Yes, the Grand Cherokee is not the fastest SUV on the market. So be it. If that's a problem for you, then it is a problem for you. Don't buy one. But you'll be missing out on a great vehicle because you insist on having a drag racer and not a refined, comfortable, and competent SUV that also happens to be quite a good value.

I agree with everything above, except the part about finding a Land Rover in traffic. In my neck of the woods, they are really common. I see LR3 (even newer LR4) Land Rovers very often. Even Range Rover & Range Rover Sports are fairly common. I hardly ever see the smaller LR2 though...

Re: WK2 VS LR4 and 4 Runner in Motor Trend

One thing that I've noticed is that most of you guys are comparing speed/performance with other similar vehicles. Of course that makes sense if your goal is to beat other similar vehicle in traffic, but the fact of the matter is that I care more about how a vehicle performs on the road, rather than compared to other vehicles.

In other words, if the vehicle has enough power to pull itself up long and/or steep climbs without constantly downshifting.....or if the vehicle pulls away from a light without making the engine labor much. If the vehicle has enough power and torque to propel itself (and a full load of passengers and luggage) decently, then I personally will be a happy camper. Who really cares if the LR4 next to me can pull away faster? Seriously? LOL....that just seems amusing to me.

A mature statement in a youthful debate. Letís not forget the Utility in SUV. Although I do like as much Sport as I can get.
