Wood trim on Overland

I have noticed that in several photos of the Overland wood trim, the wood on the steering wheel appears to have a different grain pattern and is slightly redder in color than the wood trim on the dash. One of my current vehicles has this difference and it bugs me.

I have seen one vehicle with Overland trim, but I do not remember anything about the wood trim (other than I really like the chunky steering wheel).

I'm curious what others have seen. Photos would be great.

Mine looks the same color throughout but the grain varies from piece to piece. The wood in front of the front passenger seems to have the best grain/pattern. They're all Olive Ash but unlike top luxury cars, the wood patterns are probably not matched per car.

I noticed the difference in the Overland I drove over the weekend. I think it's part of the wrapping process, and that the veneered product is coming from two different suppliers, so the wood itself, while it may have the same name, is certainly going to be different. Wood is a natural product, and as stated above, needs to come from the same "flitch" in order to match. That isn't going to happen with a Jeep, and maybe not until you get up to Rolls territory.

The wood in my OL is absolutely beautiful! I especially like the piece over the glove box! Only problem is convincing other Jeep owners that it is real. That is until they see it for themselves.

Love the wood in Overlands and our Summit. For twice the money, you get better, but the wood Jeep is using is darn good and untouchable at the price point. I also drive a supercharged Jaguar XJ and the grain matches side to side front and back. Nice, but the Summit is as I said exceptional. Friends have told how nice it looks and then they look closer and see that its real. Lot of wood oriented people in Oregon. I do kind of like the lighter Overland wood compared to the black finished Summit treatment.

The color on my pieces matches. The grain on all the pieces on my doors and dashboard is beautiful - the steering wheel is just average.

However, I have noticed that the color of the leather on the doors does not quite match the seats. Not a big deal, but noticeable.

The wood trim is a non-functional part and therefore just eye candy. For this reason I like the genuine imitation wood in my Limited. When it is fake, you get the best "look" possible and are not subject to variety of quality provided by mother nature.
