Wow

I took a look at the 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit the platinum California edition WOW,Who would buy a range rover for over $100,000.00,I saw it on YouTube, plus a Summit here in Canada on the Chrysler dealer lot, nice leather interior, power folding mirror ,illuminated summit door sill in blue, everybody that have driven the vehicle says it his quiet and the ride is perfect with the air suspension,I could see myself buying this vehicle over a SRT.

Well for starters I would and probably most of us here, if we could afford it. RR started this SUV segment and they still lead it. And aside from a few HEMI zealots here, who wouldn't want the LR-V8 Supercharged 5.0 L engine ?

But like a lot of other things in the world, one has to compromise and buy the Jeep. Similar performance, similar features, similar unreliability. Half the price. What a steal. It is the story of haves and have-nots. Those who can't afford an Audi S4 buy a Subaru Legacy GT. Those who can't afford a Porsche 911 buy a Nissan GTR. Those who cannot afford a Ferrari buy a Corvette.

Re: Wow

Just because you are not WILLING to spend X amount doesn't necessarily mean you can't afford it.

In the past, I've spent a ton of money on cars like a BMW X5 4.8is, M5 and even 760Li - now, I'm simply not WILLING to pay that much any more.

I'm not claiming that Jeep builds the best SUV (which they obviously don't do) - but it is very hard to beat them for what you get for your hard earned $$.

I've learned that you have to pay a lot for the brand name itself if you want the best and go with a European brand - but I simply don't want to pay that premium any more. Not for non-autobahn interstates and especially not for stop-and-go traffic...

So for me, the purchase of the Jeep was a decision that made sense and I have the priceless feeling that I didn't overpay - something MANY rich people surprisingly care a lot about as well..

Truer words have never been spoken. There's an old saying that you never regret buying quality. Could be a dishwasher, a couch or a pair of nice shoes. Pick up a low end Kia and you get what you paid for.

But when (in my opinion) you start splitting hairs between high end Jeeps and BMW or Mercedes the build quality starts to become obvious. But your right it's simply not worth the leap.

My last SUV was a Lexus GX. Great truck. Was it worth 70K ?? Not really. I like my Summit a lot more.

More bang for my buck. And I work hard for my bucks

You cannot get a factory command start with a Range Rover or almost any European vehicle, the quality vehicles that the Americans are making right now is far better bargain, the only difference between the Range Rover and the jeep is you get massaging seats and a cooling compartment something like a fridge,I could see Chrysler put massaging seats and heating and cooling elements in the cup holder in the near future and this Jeep would still cost you $30, to $40,000 less than the Range Rover,or the Mercedes GL,ML or the new GLE.This Jeep is loaded with Radar cruise control, collision warning system, blind spot monitoring, heated steering wheel,I can go on and on and on.

I agree, I don't understand all the Range Rover love. Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit is pretty impressive

That "factory command start" statement, unless I am misinterpreting, are you somehow suggesting that you cannot factory order a vehicle ? I know a few European manufacturers who let you pick it up at the factory and let you bomb down some amazing Euro roads then help you ship it back home, for the right up-charge. American vehicles are the "better" bargain. But they are just unreliable. And I am yet to find a factory delivery option on one of them. The toys on the Jeep ? I have them too...the FCW, the BSM, the ACC, the front camera, the heated/ventilated seats. And ? I still would get the Range Rover if I could afford it. I am glad there are people who would, and that they made the wise decisions in splitting with their money. I can't afford the RR but If I did, I would buy it. All I could afford was the Overland trim and then decided to be "cheaper" (or wiser) and load up a Limited with all the packages and save $2,000 while getting essentially the same stuff while avoiding things I did not want (like leather stiched dashboard and the slippery wood steering wheel).

We have a member here who owns 2 WK2 in the same model year, one with air suspension, another without. He stated on multiple occasions that ride quality is about the same, possibly regular suspension being a bit better.
