Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

If you didn't already have a new GC with the Hemi, I would almost call the mistake a blessing in disguise.

But since you already do and your wife wanted the V6 for her GC. I can certainly see the bit of a pickle that you're in.

As already stated, see what the dealer has to say and go from there.

Ask for V6 price and take the Hemi.

If you decide to play hardball, I would have a lawyer look at the contract first and check for weasel words or oddities in your locale then go in knowing exactly what your options are including being able to just walk away.

If you have a contract, make copies and keep the original in a very safe place.

Finally, talk it over with your wife and be in agreement when you go in. You must present a united front and agree on who does the talking or you have already lost.

Personally, would like having one of each then see which you drive the most (suspect the V6 would surprise you).
All good advice. It's a little hard for me to be objective, since the V8 was the only way I'd go, but you should receive something to offset the fact that this is not the exact vehicle you ordered.

I asked if she could peek at the new jeep and to make long story short it has the hemi, not the v6 we ordered. After waiting so long she does not want to re-order. The dealer manager, who ordered the car right in front of us was not there, so will have to talk tomorrow. Do i just bite the bullet and get the hemi or what? I must say i like my overland with hemi and actually had second thoughts about the v6, but my wife wanted the v6. Right now she is just tired of waiting? Any advice? Thanks!
I don't think there would be a problem if your dealer made a trade with another dealer. That color MG is an easy get with those options.Look online for one and show them.

Sounds like someone who had a vested interest in petroleum sales.

Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

Part of what you liked so well about your '11 Overland enough to want another one was the HEMI. Get some $$$ off because they built it wrong, but buy it the way it is!

Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

If you can get the V8 at the V6 price then the money difference will make up for the lower gas mileage over the next few years.

Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

Honestly id try to make some deal but the V8 is the way to go..Im satisfied with the V6 but i know i would love the V8.. If your wife has driven your jeep around shes gonna be used to that extra umphh that the V8 has..as soon as she drives hers shes gonna feel there is something missing and always be dissapoined in it.. Go V8!!

Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

Sure it's only a few mpgs worse than a V6, but there are lots of people who won't drive a "dinosaur" V8 on principle alone. Your wife may be one of them. If so, she'll never be fully happy with the bigger engine. So don't do all your talking with the dealer. Talk to your wife. Didn't you say it was to be her vehicle? If the deal is not what she wants...just walk away.
