Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

You can't find a local one w/o having to reorder? If you can't wait, I'd have the dealer search for a local one. That is a big mix-up if you wanted the V6. I'd make them make it right. You already have a Hemi. Oh, and it's more like 5MPG difference at the pump -- not 2-3. My previous ride was an Aspen Hemi VVT MDS. Mine was 2wd, and struggled to make 14 during mixed city driving. During the winter, it was making 12.5-13.5. My Jeep is making 17.5-18.5, and it's not broke in yet.

Like others said though, if $ is no object, keep the Hemi. She'll be smiling every time she steps on the gas pedal. I do miss mine in that aspect. There's nothing quite like the torque in the Hemi. The V6 can't even come close to that feeling. But, when it comes time to fill up, I'm smiling.

Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

You want to keep her happy.

But for me, I would stick to the V6, even if the price was equal. Then again we have $5/gallon gas here.

2012 Hemi has the 6 speed and gets 1 mpg better than the 2011 Hemi 5 speed.

Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

Cold Winter air has hurt my mileage a bit. I'm currently getting only 14 mpg with my 2012 HEMI during mostly local driving in hilly central Connecticut. On highway road trips, I get over 20 mpg. But mileage really doesn't matter to me. If mileage matters to you, get the V6. Even better, wait for the V6 with the eight speed transmission.

Or better yet the diesel. Best of both.

Re: Wrong engine ordered for wifes jgc!

While I have and love my Hemi, that is not what you ordered.

I would never settle for something that was wrong on a vehicle I ordered. Either it is specifically what I ordered or I will not accept it. PERIOD.

I do not compromise on certain things. And on that list are vehicles costing $30 - $40,000 or more that I went thru the hassel of ordering a specific set of features/options on.

Here is what happened. the dealer said they would let her drive the v8 and order a v6. After considering that and all the inout from everyone here-thanks!-i decided to go take the wife to see it and present to him the deal he gave on this one vs the last one. The overland deal was quite a bit better. At that point he said he would take $500 more off the price. After seeing the vehicle, ny wife really liked it, so we went ahead and bought it. As we were leaving he said he could not believe how "cool" we were in the sense we didnt get mad or anything or make any demands, but just said the deal was not as good as before not even considering the order was messed up. So i guess everything worked out for the best. Thanks for all your advice and help. Since the wife ultimately had final say, shes happy too!
