LOVE THE 5.9!!

My buddy has a 5.9 he bought from his dad (who bought it brand new in '98) with only 50k on it. Total sleeper on the street.

5.9 is like the the 318, the 5.7 is the newer hemi

Another amazing 5.9 is the old lil red express dodge truck. Rare and high now. Those were also mustang bruisers.

I have had my 5.9 since early 99. It has 220k rough miles on it yet still looks new and drives new and keeps clean oil. Premium fuel I guess? Amazing old engine. I had the trans replaced with a new one from a dealer at 170k. I've replaced the starter twice with cheap ones and the water pump once.

Yes the 5.9 was a 360ci, wanted one BAD when it came out, but I think you typoed, the 5.2 was the 318 std V8 offered for the ZJ with the 5.9 only avail in '98. I regretted getting the 4.0 in my '97 GC the day I drove it off the lot

You got it. that's what I was trying to say. lol I always wanted the 5.9 but I think the 318 was a great motor to. I had a Pioneer, I think it was a 2.5 4 cylinder half of the 4 liter. No go at all... 283 ci,327 ci and the 318 ci were great motors.

The 5.9 and 5.2 are mostly interchangeable parts except the crank and rods. Bore and stroke are different. Both are great.

My family has been driving Jeeps for close to 30 years but this is what I've had

-87 Cherokee Chief 2 door
-98 Grand Cherokee Limited
-02 Grand Cherokee Laredo
-08 Grand Cherokee Laredo X
-14 Grand Cherokee Limited

All have been great except the WK, started to fall apart on me at 60k miles.
