Re: your history with Jeep

Does the M151A2 qualify?

Damn things were like goats off road... Unstoppable.

How about an '81 Eagle wagon?
(I was a fool to sell that tank!)

Besides that, this is my first Jeep that I've owned.
My sister has had Jeeps for years and I've driven them over the years.

94 ZJ Laredo, I6
97 ZJ Laredo, I6
02 WJ Laredo, I6 (totaled in snowstorm)
04 WJ Overland, V8 HO (miss this WJ every day!)
08 Nissan Pathfinder, 4.0 V6 (god I hated that vehicle)
09 WK Limited, 4.7 V8 (current)

Now I want a 14 or 15 EcoDiesel WK2. Soon!

So yeah, definitely got Jeep on the brain....

Re: your history with Jeep

I'm on my 22nd and 23rd Jeep right now. 2015 Rubicon HR for me, 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited for her. At one time around 2002 I had seven Jeeps insured at the same time. Job loss and divorce led to selling most of them but there's always been at least one in the family since about 1980.

brief summary,

this is my 3rd Rubicon.
5th Grand Cherokee,
had 2 J-10 trucks,
6 Wagoneers,
one older Cherokee,
2 CJ 5's,
1 Willys utility wagon,
1 CJ3B
enuff for my brain today... I've got a full list somewhere and I'm trying to find actual pictures of all of them.

22 - 23rd Jeep

You Sir are a strong contender for the "Winner, Winner, Chicken-Dinner" First Prize! I do not know who will buy it for you but hats off! Wish you could have held on to some of those rigs.

I wish I still had all of them.... but live changes and you move on. Thinking back, my second car was a 1970 Mustang Mach 1, 428 Cobra Jet. Not a Jeep but wish I still had it too!!!

I'll see if I can find my list and find time to post it.

Re: your history with Jeep

Good thread.

I too have owned another jeep. It was a 95 XJ (Jeep Cherokee sport) with a 4X4 with an I6 4.0l. I put 230k miles on it, and gave it away (in 2003) to an unappreciative person who has most certainly destroyed it and/or sold it by now.

That XJ Jeep was tough, no doubt. I used it to haul several loads of broken concrete to the crush back when I poured a 20 yard job (driveway and garage slab) at a previous home. While the XJ had some quirks and the styling was not very creature-comfort friendly in the interior, it was easily the most reliable machine I've ever owned. I put some updated wheels on it (from a 99XJ) which were grey that were really cool.

In the end it leaked a little oil from the main seal that I never got to fix before I gave it away, but it gave me a lot of confidence in my decision to purchase my current WK2.

In general (and because I drive 25k+ a year) I want to drive my cars for as long as possible and don't like car payments. Hopefully I will get the same range out of the WK2 as it is the only vehicle I've ever purchased new.
