2.7 CRD 2002 transmission control assembly

12 sensors are Hall effect. They are activated by a ? ferrite bar 22x5x4 set into the corrugated plastic conveyor type mat around the sticks. Mine have become corroded and are disintegrating (? coke or salt water). The pilot lights are unpredictable therefore the auto shift may not actuate. I tied magnetic bar (maplins) but suspect the field is too strong and sets off 2 indiicators. It may be soft ferrite bar like in aerials etc. Any suggestions other than new assembly at 600 quid. PCB is OK.

Thanks
