Accessing the fault codes with the key

Hi All,I have been trying to find the thread that tells you how to access the fault codes by using the key,had no luck finding it,dont know if I was looking in the right places,can anyone help? Thanks.

Some models do it slightly differently, aka those with the older auto temp control, it is
on off on off on and see the codes on the ATC screen, where 55 is end of codes.

Your mileage may vary, your method may vary, depending on whether or not your vehicle even has a key.
