Battery replacement on 2011 WK2 limited 3.6L

Hi.
I was just wondering now that my grand Cherokee is approaching that 6 year post build next Autumn, I thought I better see if the WK2 with battery under the seat has to use a Jeep battery or just MOPAR? It gets below zero in upstate NY and 6 years is about the length of most heavy-duty batteries. I was wondering if all or any aftermarket batteries could be recommended.

My FIL delivers parts now that he's retired as a mechanic and gets parts at cost plus 10%. I thought that replacing it in October beats being bogged down in February when I might have an inch of ice covering my vehicle.

I had a GMC Envoy from 2004, and he got a great deep cell that retailed for over $200, for about $96. In the local dealer they have 3 different MOPAR batteries that all are under $140. Just thought I would check to see if anybody has replaced their battery in a 2011 grand Cherokee limited.

Soon enough the timing belt and full 100K maintenance but that may be 4-5 years down the road for me. The battery is something within 6 months.

The WK2 has an AGM battery which should last longer than the regular lead acid. But i agree at 6 years if you live in subzero area id replace it rather than try to get that 1 or 2 more years and end up getting left standing somewhere. I have always had good luck with die hards

I haven't replaced mine yet. I think I will wait until December if the end of Autumn is mild.
I always try to get the best as possible when it comes to batteries and Cold Cranking Amps. When it comes to starting my WK2 that might have sat in single digit temps for a week and the jeep is snowed in and ice is under the snow, this is where that extra bit of CCA pays back enormously.

6 years is a long time for a battery.. might be time.. What brands can your FIL get?

BTW, in frigid winter climates, synthetic oil is your friend..

I think the last battery we bought was Interstate but I think they carry a different brand that they have had even better results from. He's in Orlando right now, so I can't ask him, but during my state inspection they tested my battery and said it should easily make it through another Winter. That being said I would rather change it out this December as the build date on my 2011, was actually November 2010. Better to maintain, both at suffer the consequences. However we dint have much severe hot weather here. My sisters family lives in Las Vegas and batteries seem only to last about 2 years there. If you buy your battery at Sam's, Costco, or Sears, you almost never have to pay for a replacement because they all have long warranties which the batteries never reach. If much like a running joke there especially this year as it's just been a scorcher. We usually have only a handful of days over 90F. Because I live just South of Lake Ontario, we get shielded from the coldest inland temperatures. It comes with the drawback of getting slammed by much more lake effect snow, however.

Thanks for your reply. I've search about it but it's not available so I take Exide premium EA770. It's good battery.

AGMs are standard so id stick with these if you can also make sure it has the vent tube asit is in the cabin you want to be sure it will vent the gasses the battery can put off.
