MIL Codes

My Check Engine light came on my 2011 WK2 Hemi. Is there a way to retrieve the fault codes without an OBD scan tool?

Re: MIL Codes

guessing here...

coolant temperature sensor.

Seen a couple of the 5.7s now where coolant passed through the sensor and "shorted" the circuit causing an inaccurate temperature reading leading to a "thermostat rationality" code, which basically is the vehicle using runtime and coolant temperature to assume the thermostat is working or not.

Go by a autozone or similar and they will pull the codes for you. I purchased a harbor freight code reader for home which I think is the same machine that the tool trucks are selling for much less (doesnt have the cornwell, snapon and mac stickers on them). If your a curious guy and have an OBDII vehicle I suggest you pick one up too.

Re: MIL Codes

I have an appointment tomorrow with the dealer. I think I will get a OBRII so I can read codes. I think its my mass airflow sensor from the CAI I installed however, I have driven at least 300 miles with it before the light came on. I will find out at the dealer.

Not sure if it's the same in the 2011 as my 05, but if you cycle the key off to on(don't start the engine just turn it to right before that) three to four times in a row quickly the code will appear where the Outside temp display is. Hope this helps.
