Need help with Fog wiring

I want to try installing a set of Foglight HIDs this spring. I get very tired of being flashed all the time with HIDs in any other headlight.

I want it to work so I can turn them on and off as I please and not controlled by the lowbeams.
I see kits on Ebay for the HID Projector fogs but they wire into the existing harness which means they'll go on and off with the lows right?

Anyone done this? What do I need to do?

yeah...you dont have to turn the lows on...just turn on the accessory lamps and pull the fog switch out.

Re: Need help with Fog wiring

I have an 05 Ltd. I want them to work when the headlights are on but I want to be able to switch them on and off at will...not with the lows only.

Thats what I used, you have to have your parking lights on with them, but not the lows. If you just want fogs on without anything else, you're gonna have to come up with a custom switch and wiring.

Re: Need help with Fog wiring

side not about getting flashed. It's because your low beams are meant for halogen. The halogen reflectors cant handle the HID. Which causes them to scatter a lot.

I would recommend doing what i did. Go find a big flat parking lot. Get a buddy in a generic sedan to go park in front of you, about 50 yards up, facing you, offset like he's in the oncoming lane.

use the adjusters to aim the headlights down until the beam goes below the driver's window on his/her car.

(short notes, aim your lows down, your HID's are too bright)
