New Alternator overcharging-2012 GC

Hey Guys,

Got a bit of a problem with my alternator overcharging. I replaced the old alternator due to my batt light coming on and the alternator only reading 12.5 volts. After I put the new one in the alternator was reading 16.5 volts. Figured it was a bad unit out of the box and got another new one but the 2nd one i tried is doing the same. My car only has 55,000 miles so replacing the alternator this soon seems weird but hey it can happen right?

As anyone else come across this? Is there another regulator somewhere else that could be causing it? Could it be a bad battery even though it reads 12 volts? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Guys!

A fully charged battery should show around 12.7V half an hour after it was charged. Dont know the WK2, so dont know where the voltage regulator is placed. On the WJ for example its part of the PCM.
