So I decided to paint my chrome tips for the SRT exhaust. I was gonna get them done at a shop but the guy wanted $150 so I said worse case if they come out like crap, I'll get them done, but I wanted to give it a shot myself. So here's what I did. First, sanded and cleaned them up real nice.
Used a Dremel to scuff up the chrome.
Needed to use 2 of these attachments. One for each tip, they sand down to nothing .
After I wiped them clean with some soap and water I sprayed on a few coats of high heat black. Sprayed a coat, let it dry and repeated 2 more times.
They came out real nice and if I was looking for matte black, I would of left them but I want a shiny finish so I took some of your guys advice and used caliper paint with ceramic to finish it up.
Sprayed a few light coats first. Then a final 2 deep coats to get it nice and shiny.
So that's it for now, once I get my bumper installed I'll have pictures up of what they look like on the jeep, but I love them and I think they came out great. Total $ spent...$16. Yeah buddy!
