I own a 2000 grand cherokee laredo and there is absolutely nothing wrong with my transmission although a few days ago the light just randomly came on. About a year ago we had a new transmission installed. I was wondering how i reset this? Thanks
I did check the manual, but couldn´t find any transmission light. The only indication light there is for the tranny is a text" trans over temp" on the lower right corner. Are you sure its not the check engine light (# 13 on the attached picture) This attached picture is for a 2004 WJ, the 2000 manual mentiones the same lights, but doesn´t show the complete cluster.
I stand corrected it is #13 the malfunction indicator lamp, although i cant seem to find or even think of anything wrong the jeep has been doing lately. Any idea of what this is a sign of?
You need to do the key dance to see which fault code is stored in the PCM: switch ignition switch OFF/ ON 3 times and leave it in on at the third time. The odometer will show you the stored faults one at a time, or DONE when no faults stored. Let us know what you find.
p 1494 leak detection pump pressure switch, i re attatched a vaccum line coming from the motor and took out the pump, checked it out and put it back in because it makes this clicking noise after 2 or 3 minutes od the jeep idling
I think that you removed the evap.solenoid. that one indeed pulses after a few minutes of engine operation. Its normal. Depending on model year, the leak detector pump is in the.engine.bay, or hidden behind the left rear.wheel well.cover. But it could be that the loose vacuum line was your problem.
