Re: 100% Gasoline/No Ethanol-good or bad ?

CDAutrey....That is a very good observation. Marinas are not the only area's where Ethanol free is sold. I live in a very large agricultural area no lakes or water ways in northern Virginia. NO BIG CITIES where the Govt. dictates what needs to be sold. Towns around here have a population of 2000 at best and much smaller. Many small towns, huge Agricultural farms, cattle, etc. I can think of at least 5-6 filling stations in a radius of 15-20 miles from my house that sell NO ETHANOL Gas. So I feel fortunate I can buy it for my 2013 JGC Ltd. The gas is all 87 octane and runs approx. .15 cents/gal. more. The 3.6 pentastar Idle's much better and seems to be very responsive passing on the super Hwy. Do I understand the Govt. wants to increase it to 15% Ethanol?

Re: 100% Gasoline/No Ethanol-good or bad ?

Manufacturers have had the E85 vehicles out for several years now. Understand they have special rubber seals in the injectors and elsewhere to handle the corrosive properties of the higher percentage ethanol fuels.
I've talked to many, many people who've had problems with motorcycles, lawn mowers, weed eaters and the like from using 10% ethanol fuel.
www.pure-gas.org details all the stations in the US and Canada selling "real" gasoline.

Yeah, and they're idiots. Manufacturers such as BMW have clearly pointed out that if you have a fuel related problem, they'll sample/test your tank's fuel and if you've exceeded 10% ethanol, you're not covered under warranty. My mother's X5 had that problem and they found 14% in her fuel. She always filled at different stations, so it was near impossible to determine which station was at fault. She was out almost $1600 to fix everything.

I just wish the stupid govt would stop trying to "fix" problems that don't exist, just to "help" out others.

methanol is corrosive not so much ethanol. wrong alcohol, but I've noticed small gains with pure gas, not enough to really care about.

Older article but simple and straight to the point. Plus there's still lots of cars on the road that aren't designed to handle the Ethanol, even at 10% over time. Not worth the hassle and it drove up the cost of food and other things.
