1993-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Possible Fire Risk

I don't get it...if this is suddenly a safety concern after all these years, shouldn't the Cherokee and Wranglers be too? All the tanks on those are mounted in the same location. A low-to-the ground vehicle can rear-end any XJ,TJ, or WJ and puncture the plastic tanks. Same probably goes for most "non Jeep" suvs too.

Couldn't get the link up on my iPad but if this is the recall for the rear end tow hitch it had to do with impacts that could drive the hitch into the gas tank. There is a fix for it but they were not getting the owners to respond. I don't have a hitch and was told by a local dealer that I would have to leave my 97 ZJ for a few days but that they would either change the gas tank or replace the hitch. I ended up forgetting about it and had my fuel pump replaced by my own mechanic. I suppose I should have mentioned it to him but since I don't use a hitch I didn't see the need.
