Hi has anyone noticed what appears to be a dead pixel on the dash.. It appears just above the km reading on the display as a white dot. It's random but annoying. Am getting dealer to look at this as well as the dreaded cruise not working tomorrow..

Cheers

Not really the right forum section to be posting this. It’s better off in the trouble shooting section.

Do you mean the EVIC? Do you have a picture to show it, that would help greatly.
Interested to see what the result will be as most LCD manufacturers allow for a few dead pixels before it is covered by warranty.

And it is there on all screens regardless of display selected?

Your screen is fairly dusty and there is a lot of glare in this shot, makes it hard for a fault to stand out. Pictures of the screens is always best done with as little ambient light as possible.
I gather it is the white dot below the word “to” and above the letter “k” for km, is that correct?

Yeah that's correct

Does it appear on all screens?

Some EVIC screens have dots on that section to indicate there are pages to the left or right, does it still appear then?

I don't really see it on your pic. But I have what I think u r describing. It's on all screens and random. This is my second '14 WK2. Both did it and it seems like it eventually goes away if the drive is long enough. It is 1 dot or pixel like u describe, @ the top right corner of where my odometer reading is. (Bottom of EVIC) Can you post a diff pic or PM me a pic

I am disappointed as I am on my work PC, I have a restriction on the allocation of arrows.
If I was home, well, you know the results.

Actually, if I had used photo bucket, dam too late.

To the OP, I have not broached this to the dealer as I am sure it would entail them messing around in there as it would be the only way to fix. Let me know if you do. I have not seen anyone else with this.

Lower section. Right above where the miles show. If it's like that on the way home tonight I'll snap a picture. Happens about 25% of the time and goes away if I change screens. Sent from my iPhone using JeepGarage
Mines exactly the same changing screens makes it go away and it's not consistent. Anyway the dealer had ordered a new dash just waiting it to arrive from US.

Is it possible that the PIXEL everyone is seeing, is actually the white dot that lets you know there is more information available if you press the right or left arrow on the steering wheel.

For example, if you use the speedometer view, the dot above the odometer will move right or left as you switch from analog to digital.

Some screens have a lot more options as you move from right to left.

Definitely a bug in the software. Looks to be the bottom 2-3 pixels from the "y" in "Parksense Ready" when throwing it into reverse. It doesn't go away when switching between menus with the steering wheel controls but shifting into neutral and toggling Sport Mode resets the pixels to black.

I'm assuming since not everyone has this problem, a reflash of the module controlling the dash screen could fix this. We'll see after my next visit to the dealer.

I have the same issue and am also OCD about it. The only thing that clears it for me is to go to the digital speedometer screen and change it to the "analog old school speedo". Then when I switch back to the digital speedo, it goes away and doesn't come back until the vehicle is turned off. Then it comes back sporadically, and I do the same procedure to clear it again. Must be software related and it drives me crazy.

Forgot to come back and update on my fix. My dealer said they called the STAR line and were instructed to swap it out for a new dash screen. New screen works flawless with no white/defective pixels. Still think it was software related since it wasn't there since day one...

It's definitely a software issue as I have the same spot, same location on screen and I, too, thought it was a dead pixel until it went away. it's sporadic for me as well, so its definitely not a dead pixel as that would never go away.

Also, it would be way too much of a coincidence that all of us had the same dead pixel in the same spot OR even the same bad screen or bad wiring harness or connection that caused this 'dead' spot in the same place. I think a future update will resolve it. I wonder if its even been brought to enough attention of the software team to look into it.

Hmm I'll talk with the service department see how it goes I've had the car 3 months now and it wasn't there, got back from work this week and while I was away had the car updated with about 3 TSB updates and software flashes and noticed this yesterday while cruising these streets..

I dont think its sporadic, see my video in post 29.

I kept telling my dealer about it but they said they had to visually verify it and pictures would not be good enough. Finally figured out it was the pixels getting stuck when going from reverse to drive and was able to show them first hand.

What did they say?

My '14 WK2 Diesel is less than a week old, and I noticed the same thing. That pixel locks up for me when I shift out of reverse just like ktech35. My pictures go in sequence (A, B, C) I agree, it seems like it's part of the letter y in ready that doesn't want to go away!

Did a dash replacement fix this issue?
