Many thanks M.

Was hoping that the long outstanding bug that does not allow you to enter an address from a different State to the one that you are currently in, via the touch screen was maybe corrected. Because, you know, no one ever drives between States.

re: TSB and Recall information: 2014-2018 Cherokee KL

I had my 2014 Trailhawk into the dealer yesterday for an oil change, tire rotation, the S55 recall, as well as an intermittent issue regarding the audio controls on the back left side of the steering wheel not working. They also pushed me into getting the high pressure emission cleaner service. They told me that in addition to that, there was a trouble code in the computer despite the Check Engine Light never coming on. They said that had something to do with the switches or sensors in the transmission bezel. Said it was covered under my Max care warranty, and parts were ordered.

Now, immediately after leaving the dealership, there was an audible chime, and a message on the EVIC saying that the 4WD system was unavailable and required service. I called the dealership while driving. They said to make sure the dial wasn't stuck in between settings. It wasn't. They had no other idea what to tell me. I drove home, shut it off, and restarted. The issue went away.

Over the weekend had to take a 45 mile drive with the wife. No issues of any kind. Get to where we're going, parked car. A few hours later I go to move the car to a parking spot closer to the building. Suddenly the Check Engine Light comes on. (You would think the Message Center on these cars would tell you what the stupid light is on for). No noticeable difference in performance. Shut the car off, go about our business. Come back about an hour later, start up, light still on. Drove all the way home, light stayed on. Still no noticeable issues with performance, sound, shifting, or anything else.

Took it back to the dealership after work yesterday. They said the check engine light was being caused by an oil pressure sensor or switch. How could that possibly be bad after just 3 years? Plus, the service adviser says he sees this all the time. Really? Sensors going bad after just 3 years is now a common occurrence? Didn't have time to leave it so drove home. On the way home, the 4WD service message came back on.

Does anyone have any clue what the issue could be causing the Check Engine Light to come on? Or why there were supposedly trouble codes stored in the system when the CEL had never been on before? Or why the stereo controls on the back of the steering wheel would stop working intermittently? I find it too much of a coincidence to believe that the CEL is coming on right after the emission service, and the 4WD light coming on and sensors in the bezel going bad as they performed a service that was related to the transmission (The S-55 Recall).

The issues were the locks not working at all on the door panel or the fob and the following day it completely shutdown on the road...any idea which TSB update would fix this?

Hi Chris,

Your Jeep dealership will be able to let you know which TSBs are available for your VIN, as they are in fact VIn-specific, and not everything listed here is necessarily available for your particular Cherokee. I did a quick search and I did not find the symptoms you mentioned, but your dealership should perform a full diagnosis for you.

Are radio flashes to the newest version for the 8.4 inch screen a chargeable item unlike the TSBs?

No, they are able to be done yourself if they don't happen via the new OTA setup. You down load it from the uconnect website and stick it on a USB, plug the USB into the console and start the vehicle. Follow the onscreen instructions!

I wish TSBs could be done that way.

Has anyone actually gotten the OTA update yet? I wish it was available to download and update via USB. Two months for an OTA update rollout is excruciatingly slow.

Yes I have read of a few already receiving it. One had issues where none of the MP3's on USB or SD would be recognised.
