'04 WJ Limited with QuadraDrive issues

Hi everyone!
I'm new here and this is my first post. My wife and I have an '04 GC Limited with the 4.7L V8, automatic transmission, and the QuadraDrive system.
We bought it used with 135k on it and has been a pretty good truck since we got it.
However, I started noticing that if in the AWD mode, the rear tires would break traction very easily and I felt no pull from the front.
When shifted down to 4Lo, everything seems to work fine.
Before we start talking transfer case swaps and all that fun stuff, what are some possible, cheap, easy fixes for this.
I've already put a bunch of cash into this as it was brutally attacked by a 180lb, 8 point Buck a while back and I had to pay for the body work, since I had an ADD moment and took off the collision AND comprehensive insurance to save some cash!
Are there sensors that are prone to failure or trouble that tell the NP247 where to send power? Or fuses that could be burned out and affect nothing but this?
Thanks in advance!!
J.

No sensors No fuses Nothing it's 100% mechanical setup
Cheap and Easy do no belong together with the 247 case. requires Special dealer only fluid i think 2 quarts of it.

Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ - WJ Four-Wheel Drive Systems

Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ - Maintenance information and schedules
the 247 Requires DEALER only fluid. you can try and change it out first.

And are prone to the Clutch packs wearing out and are pretty sensitive to tire variations IE some numb nuts puts two Brand new tires on while others are bald this can cause the Clutch packs unnecessary wear and burn it out IE losing the Automatic transfer. Put in it 4LO is a Mechanical engagement not automatic

Re: '04 WJ Limited with QuadraDrive issues

Welcome to the garage.
Did you check the T-case fluid level? Indeed the progressive coupler inside the T-case will wear out when different tire sizes front/rear are used (different wear), because its priciple works on the speed difference of the front and the rear prop shafts.
The T-case fluid is the "special" mopar stuff, which in fact is just mobil 424 fluid. You could try just a fluid change in the T-case and see if that does any good, but there is a good change that the coupler is shot and that is an expensive part. Cheaper will be then a junk yard T-case.

Thanks for the input!
Ill check the transfer case and change out the oil, making sure only the Mopar stuff is used.
I think I'll head over there now. Maybe if my wife gets home early enough, I can swap it out tonight before it gets too cold.
