Re: 05 5.7 gc help!

Keep in mind you will want to probably put a week or 2 on it before you let us know how it goes... the evap system monitor takes a long time to run, because of this, there may be no check engine lamp simply because it hasn't completed the system test, not because all is good.

Ok I got one question, I cleared my code disconnecting the negative and it came back on same codes in less then 10 miles. I then disconnect both and touched the + to - dealer told me to do that. And it came back 10 miles give or take. Same codes.

So do you still think the eSim is bad? If it's throwing them that fast? Or does that help diagnosing its bad?

Re: 05 5.7 gc help!

THANK YOU for clarifying, Because there was no description with the code I didnt take the time to really focus on what they were beyond P044X... those are going to be general evap system failure... COULD be caused by the ESIM, but you may want to check the purge solenoid, make sure its plugged in, and the vacuum lines are plugged into it and not pinched anywhere. The purge solenoid mounts to the junction block under the hood on the drivers side of the engine compartment. if you can pull it off and try to blow through one nipple, it should not pass any air without being energized.

Re: 05 5.7 gc help!

Ok I just took off the purge solenoid and blew into it. No air flow at all.. Blew into the 2 vacuum lines there was airflow there but just wanted to include that.

So what you thinking ESIM

Re: 05 5.7 gc help!

That would be a complete crapshoot... let me think about it, ultimately this is one of those systems that without proper tools and know how is very difficult to properly diagnose. You should be able to blow through the hoses, one goes to the intake manifold (make sure its connected there) and the other goes back to the charcoal canister, both should flow freely so there is no indication of failure there.

Again let me think about it and ill get back to you.

Re: 05 5.7 gc help!

Ok so I removed the purge solenoid again. I blew into 1 nipple at a time and no air flow through it at all.

Re: 05 5.7 gc help!

I would FIRST make sure your gas cap is fully seated, if it is, I would start by replacing that.

Again without proper tools there is zero symptom diagnostics, there is no driveway diagnostics using paperclips and jumper wires to isolate this concern, its either going to be replacing parts or taking it somewhere and hoping they have the knowledge, experience and proper tooling to perform a proper diagnosis and sell you the right part the first time.

The fact that your light turned off is an indication the monitor ran 3 times and passed 3 times back to back which indicates a possible intermittant problem that again could be pointing at the ESIM switch, it could be pointing at a wiring concern at the purge solenoid... many things, the fact it did it right after a fill up makes me suspect the cap seating.
