06 qd2 rear diff binding while cold

About 90k on the odometer. Recently started binding either front or rear while cold and obviously turning. I took it to the local stealership only for the complexity of all the traction/limited slip/qd2. First asked me about last diff service, I didn't know and told him that I have had it for 8k miles. So we agreed to start with fluid service in diff's and Tranfer case. It fixed it but after a week it started again. They took it right away and added friction modifier to transfer case and rear and bragged that he saved me a transfer case and $4k. Great problem solved..for another 3 days. Third visit they kept for a week to veryify cold symptoms that I experienced but after a week it never surfaced. I got it back and on day 3 the rear diff is not letting go for around a second as I turn out of my driveway only in reverse. By the time I switch to D it is gone. Electrical? Limited slip? Clutch packs are not releasing is all I can think of. Anyone experienced this???

So after new fluids it's getting worse? That could be bad news. The differential doesn't require friction modifier. Only the front & rear diffs. One 4oz. bottle in each. If you have ELSD's in your diffs, they should have put in the FM when they changed the fluids, not after you drove it for a week without.

My 07 GC just started having very mild binding when reversing out of my driveway but only in the front diff. I had no history of fluid changes (I'm second owner) so at 63K I changed both diffs and xfer case myself. It's very easy to do. My issue has gone away after the fluid change. My fluids didn't look too bad compared to the new stuff. Although the front diff fluid was noticably darker than the rear was.

I would suggest one last try to save it. Flush and fill the rear diff again making sure to add the 4oz FM at the same time. You can remove the old fluid yourself with a hand pump through fill hole (behind rubber grommet). That way you don't have to pull the diff cover again.

No it got much better after the first service, now it is just lingering. I hear you, the dealer said my fluid was nasty, but who can believe them. If it keeps up I will have them replace it again.
