1997 jeep grand cherokee 5.2

I was wondering if anybody has any info or a solution to my problem? My 1997 jgc laredo with the 5.2 has been staling anytime i let off the gas and if it does continue to run the idle will surge up and down, it has been running rough and when i will give it some gas it will bogg down until i let up on the gas pedal a little bit and then it will accelerate, that happens mostly when i want to accelerate quickly, getting on the freeway, passing or just putting the pedal down quickly. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 1997 jeep grand cherokee 5.2

Welcome to the garage. I would start cleaning the IAC (idle air control ) stepper motor plunjer and the air canal. If that doesn´t help, most probably the TPS is the problem.

Re: 1997 jeep grand cherokee 5.2

Did you clean the throttle body thoroughly? Especially the idle air canal?

I did not remove the throttle body or anything like that, but I did clean it with a rag and carb cleaner, I think I got it pretty good but I am going to go back and make sure I clean it really good and I will post the outcome, thanks again for the reply
