1999 jeep grand Cherokee limited 4.7 V8 starting issue

Okay I need help I can't figure this one out and I'm moving soon so I'd rather not have it happening still while I'm driving. A few days ago (probably a week or so) jeep decided to not start unless I was pumping the gas pedal then it went on to not even running if my foot wasn't on the gas which is a pain at red lights and stop signs as well as a really bad wear on my brakes! I've taken it to a mechanic but he was rather confused at what was happening every once in awhile it will run without my foot revving it up to 1,000 rpms (Any lower than that and it stalls ) the mechanic said it could be water in my fuel line I've added the fuel line conditioner to see if it helps but I'd like to get your opinions

I would start by taking the IAC stepper motor out (idle air control) and clean the plunjer and the whole air canal. Take care in not putting rotational force on the plunjer, or otherwise you will break the two internal plastic prones and you will have to replace the stepper motor.
The air canal begins at the front of the throttle body and should be cleaned from all dirt (so you will have to remove the resonator box as well). You will be surprised how much dirt can build up over time and jeopardises the idle control.
If this doesn´t help, it it most probably the TPS.
