I tested the pressure with just pressing the pressure release valve on the rail. The pressure still seems about the same. I know longer have an actual testing valve since I rented it. But coming to my dads dodge truck, there's not nearly enough pressure

I tested the fuel rail pressure again, without a gauge, and the pressure still seems low. The gas just drips out of the test valve, again, I would expect 45-50 psi would come shooting out of the valve.

Such a low pressure indeed seems to be wrong. Did you try this after priming the fuel system? What if you prime it three times and check again? Does the pump run for 3 seconds? You could remove the fuel pump relay and connect point 30 to 87. Now the pump should run continuously. Do you have pressure than?

I did the test that you wanted me to do. The fuel pump did run constantly. I pressed the fuel test valve did have a steady flow of fuel that would come out, but still doesn't seem to be 45-50psi just from my initial look without a gauge. I did clean off some grounds attached to the passenger side of the engine. They were loose and covered in oil. Was hoping this would fix the issue, but it didn't.

In addition to my last reply. I tested the pressure on my 1998 grand jeep Cherokee and it's similar to my 2000, so maybe the pressure coming out is normal. What else could it be?

If fuel is there and ignition works as well, it can be a problem of the pcm itself.

Thanks for all your responses. Is the PCM something that commonly just goes out? I know I can get one at a junkyard or online, I've heard it needs to be reprogrammed. Is the programming for the odometer reading only, does the PCM also control the Sentry key system?

Should I do any other testing, compression, timing before I move onto the PCM. Anything else before I take another $180 plunge into this ghost of a problem.

What appreciate your opinion on what you'd do at this point, thanks!
