2000 4.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start, just will crank.

Need help! I have a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I can't get to start. I've replaced the Crankshaft position sensor, Camshaft Position sensor, tested the fuel pump pressure (45 PSI). I'm at a loss as to where to check from here. Any help would be great.

Welcome to the garage.
Did you check all the fuses first? Fuses #6, #19 and #26 in the PDC under the hood are feeding the PCM, coils and injectors.
Do you smell any fuel from the exhaust after some start attempts?

I believe I checked all the fuses, but I will definitely recheck those particular ones to be sure. I don't smell any fuel from the exhaust, but will double check that as well.

Re: 2000 4.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start, just will crank.

Also swap the auto shutdown relay in the PDC with the TCM relay.
Did you check for any fault codes in the PCM? When you donīt have a scanner, use the keydance; ignition switch off/run three times and leave in run at the third time. The odometer will show DONE when no faults stored, or a fault code(s)

Swapped relays, all fuses seem to be good, no codes present.

Re: 2000 4.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start, just will crank.

So the test shows DONE? That is at least a sign that the PCM is not dead. (that the fuel pump works as well, since its switched by the PCM).
Did you check for any raw fuel smell from the exhaust after some start attempts?
You could remove the connector from one of the ignition coils and put a voltmeter between pin 2 of the connector and ground. As soon as you switch the ignition in run, there should be battery voltage on pin 2. This will only be for around 3 seconds, because if the engine is not started, than the PCM will switch the ASD relay off again.

Re: 2000 4.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start, just will crank.

I did a dc voltage test at one of the coils. It came back at 7.5, hopefully I did it right, not too familiar with volt meters and testing. I did smell the exhaust and it has a faint smell of fuel. I did attempt to start it a little bit ago and it started to turn over and then nothing again, this is the only time it's done that.

Re: 2000 4.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start, just will crank.

Did you check the battery voltage itself? 7.5V at the coil is too low.

Retested the coil this morning with a fresh battery. Is was coming in around 10 volts. When I attempted to start the truck it started to fire and then immediately died. I then nothing again

Re: 2000 4.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start, just will crank.

With the ASD relay closed, you should see battery voltage at pin 2 from any coil or any injector. So measure battery voltage first (which should be 12.7V on a fully charged battery) and compare that with what you see at pin 2 of the coil. This should be almost the same. A lower value at pin 2 means some loss in between the battery and pin2. This mostly be caused by electrical resistance at a wire connection (moisture and/or corrosion). Start measuring at the PDC. Remove fuses #6, #19 and #26 and measure the voltage overthere. If its the same as battery voltage, than re-insert the fuses and try to start again.
Some other thing to try, is to disconnect the alternator thick wire and isolate it with tape. Dont let it touch any metal, because it will cause a short. Now try to start again. Let me know the results.

Re: 2000 4.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start, just will crank.

Went to start the jeep this morning and it again fired right up then immediately died.

Coals are getting 7.7

Battery 12.7

#6 fuse is getting 12.80 & 22.5
#19 fuse is getting 12.82 & 4.0
#26 fuse is getting 22.5 & 22.4

Electric fan kicked on when #19 fuse was removed.

All these tests were done with ignition turn to the on position.

Re: 2000 4.7 Jeep Grand Cherokee won't start, just will crank.

Did you remove the alternator cable and tried to start?
What do you mean with #6 fuse is getting 12.80 & 22.5? The 12.8V is ok, which is the battery voltage, but what do you mean with the 22.5?
Fuse 26 is a fuse after fuse #6, so should measure the same voltage as at fuse #6, but can normally never be higher.
Or there is something strange going on, or you are measuring wrongly.
