Unhappy 2000 Grand Cherokee SKIM problem

After spending $1200 dollars at dealer, was told Security key symbol staying on, guages going dead, engine dying sometimes but not often, was fixed. 30 minutes after picking up the vehicle same problem starts. Tired of all the suggestions from internet and shops. Can security system be disabled. Don't care if someone steals it.

Re: 2000 Grand Cherokee SKIM problem

Im almost affraid of giving any idea, since you are already tired of al suggestions
The security system can be disabled, but it would need a reflash of the PCM. I know that some repair shops who do PCM repairs can do this reflash.
But eventhough the keysymbol light was lit, also the gauges went dead. A problem with the SKIS will not cause the gauges to go dead, or there must be a problem electrically in the SKIM, which i doubt. This problem seems more to have to do with the PCI data bus, which shorts out somewhere. This somewhere could be the PCM itself or any other component connected to the PCI data bus, but what happens a lot is water ingress in the C200 connector which sits on the passengers side bulkhead (cabin side).

Thanks for the reply, I was frustrated with the response from the dealer when I made that first post. I will check out your suggestion.

Re: 2000 Grand Cherokee SKIM problem

Here a drawing from the manual with the C200 in the right corner in case you want to have a look at it. Makes it a bit easier to recognize.
What did the stealer do to try to solve the problem?
