I have just bought this WJ and found out it had the 0331 head crack issue so I replaced the head. Then it ran great for a day. Then it starts to stall and misfire horribly and I get the P0320 and P1391 codes so I changed the ckp sensor with a mopar one ($134.98)and it runs okay and the codes go away. After driving it a little now, maybe less than 20 miles I have the code for P0303. Which is a misfire in cylinder 3. I just changed the plugs and it's not heat soaked because it still turns the check engine light on when it sits overnight and is cold. It seems I can't catch a break with this thing. Any ideas on what is causing the misfire? Also injectors or working great and fuel is getting to the cylinder.

Re: 2000 WJ misfire

Welcome to the garage.
Do you only get the misfire code, or does it really misfire? Sometimes a bad TPS can create a noise signal which the PCM interprets as a misfire.

I am not at home yet. I will check the TPS today. What are the chances of these sensors going out at the same time? Could it be an wiring issue?

It turned out it was only a faulty spark plug. I went to change out the coil rail and thought I should check it first and number three was firing strong. So I pulled the plug and looked at it and it didn't show a single sign it ignited even once. I threw in an old one and it worked great and the misfire went away. I am so relieved that I checked the basics before throwing more money at it.
