2002 WJ Knocking Noise When Turning Left

Hey All,

I have a 02 WJ V8 4X4. I am getting a "Knocking" or "Clunking" noise every time I turn left. It use to happen only when I took a sharp left at slow speeds. Now it happens all the time. Any clues? Thanks guys!

-Richard

Maybe check your track bar? I had similar noise on my xj. Or check your cv axle shaft

Yeh, i would start checking the CV boots on both axles. A torn boot is almost for sure the end of a CV joint, depending on how long it operated with the torn boot. The grease will be thrown out and sand/dirt comes in, causing it to wear rapidly. But even when the boot is ok, the joint can have created wear. Lift one front wheel or even the complete front and rotate the wheel by hand, while listening for noises, while the steering is turned left.
