Yeh, i would start checking the CV boots on both axles. A torn boot is almost for sure the end of a CV joint, depending on how long it operated with the torn boot. The grease will be thrown out and sand/dirt comes in, causing it to wear rapidly. But even when the boot is ok, the joint can have created wear. Lift one front wheel or even the complete front and rotate the wheel by hand, while listening for noises, while the steering is turned left.
