Re: 2005 Grand Cherokee Starting Problem
So just to understand your problem exactly, the engine doesnt crank, or it does crank, but not start? The battery was tested?
If the problem is not cranking, you first have to hear/feel if the starter relay clicks when trying to start. It should be in the power distribution center under the hood. If that relay clicks when the problem is there, then the small wire on the starter motor solenoid needs to be checked, it can make bad contact and prevent the solenoid to be operated. Also check if the ground straps from the engine to the body are intact and no corrosion on the terminals.
If all this is ok, then most probably the starter solenoid is getting bad and the starter must be replaced. It is possible to just replace the solenoid, which ofcourse is a much cheaper solution, if you can do it yourself.
