2011 Compas has no cabin heat

Hi. Engine runs at normal temperature, pipes in and out of heater core are hot, plastic housing where heater core is mounted is warm (wear I can reach and touch it). Switch to operate heat from cold to hot does not change the temperature. the air blowing out is always cold.

Now that the weather on the east coast is getting colder the need for heat is now more important. Plus this Jeep is owned by my girlfriends daughter who is going to have a baby in early December. I offered to help fix.

I understand that the baffles or blend doors in the actuator get stuck or break. And i also understand that to fix these the dash has to be removed. Also, can it be the heater control dial? I just need to some direction to start trouble shooting the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

If I need to dismantle the dash to get to the heater dial or the blend doors, i need the steps on what needs removed to get to them.

Ted

Can you hear the blend door actuator move when you select an other temperature? The actuator can be bad.

Hi Frank, I do not hear any noise or movement when i change temp when i rotate the temp dial controll... That is why i thought it could be the dial being bad. is it easy to remove the dial temp control to test? if its the actuator, how do i access it to verify.

Not familiar with the Compass, but most probably sits the blend door actuator behind the glove box. Did you check first if the fuse is not blown?

Re: 2011 Compas has no cabin heat

Now the mechanism to switch the air flow from floor to dashboard to defrost is sitting behind the glove box to the left. That is working just fine.

I did check for the fuses and in the cab did none were blowm. I'm wondering now if there are any fuses for this under the hood.

The heater core comes in right above the gas peddle (which is hot) I thought maybe the blend doors were behind the center console. Which looks like job to get to.

Do you know if the temperture controll knobs are cable driven or electroninc on a 2011 Compass?

I appreciate the feedback.

Re: 2011 Compas has no cabin heat

I donīt know if all the Compasses are the same, but i saw that they sell electrical actuators for the blend door for the Compass.
