Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee Diesel Check Engine Light
The check engine light on the diesel models is a known issue by Chrystler, despite what individual dealerships might say. I had mine in about six times before they got it fixed. First they replaced the DEF filter, then one of the knock sensors because it was loose, then they replaced the rest of sensors (not sure how many there are), then they replaced all the DEF injectors and finally they replaced the whole filter system. I haven't had any problems since then. Not sure about the individual codes but mine would throw something different every time they would make a change. As many of you are aware, the motor was built and designed by VM Motori and has been in production for more than 20 years. Chrystler modified it slightly to meet US emissions standards with the DEF system. Not sure why they didn't just modify the system from the sprinter van but they decided to design this DEF system specifically for the Jeep and have had issues with the various components, the DEF injectors being the most common failure point. It was a pretty annoying problem and any error code will cancel your auto start, but it was all covered under warranty.
