6 cylinder or hemi, what happened that they had to replace a brand new engine?

HEMI. Something with the fuel injector coming wide open and the rod bending. I am not technical and don't really know what that means, but the engine was completely done. They replaced the entire engine under warranty (pulled one off of the line). I only had 3000 miles on it when it died. Check out my thread in y signature if you have any desire for more details, or the "And so it continues" thread. I forget which one I put more info in, but I don't think I put everything in either thread.

Agreed on the rental.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Faulty Transmission

Going back to the dealer tomorrow to deal with the rental issue. I'll try to find more info on what exactly made the transmission fail. They are fully aware of the issues though, that's for certain.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Faulty Transmission

Update - The rental was extended another 5 days. There was no need to go back to the dealership today. They said the transmission is on a national back order.

That's great! Good luck. I was only a few days back ordered but that was mid Nov.

Yes, folks shouldn't confuse their local dealership with Jeep or Chrysler.

Re: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Faulty Transmission

I also need a new transmission for my 04 JGC. I have the diesel, and two weeks ago it wouldn't engage first gear properly, would just rev, and then catch on. Other gears not working properly either. Was told they needed to do a software patch. Done, and drove home fine. Next day, the same issue. Tow it back 10 days ago. They check the solenoids and look for debris in the transmission. None found, they said Chrysler recommends a new valve body. Today I hear they are recommending an entirely new transmission. No eta on receipt. Very disappointed over all. This all occurred with 1,400 miles. I enjoy the features/comfort, but am hesitant to take it on road trips after (if) it is fixed. Even if fixed, will certainly sell it before the extended warranty runs out at 60k miles.
