2014 Summit 1269 miles dead battery

Went out this morning to a dead battery. It was left parked in the garage overnight no lights or anything on. Doors were all closed and locked. Had to have it jump started luckily the doors opened before nothingness. What could have caused this?

check the engine grounds.....the battery is not dead. This exact thing happened with my wifes Durango. Check the grounds just below the fuse box on the passenger side shock tower.

And even the battery terminals. My negative clamp wasn't even half on and fell off when I attempted to put a wrench to it.

I think it was put there because of the co-design that was going on with the WK2 and ML when M-B was partnered with Chrysler.

That is actually a great place, helps to distribute weight, and make room under the hood for other goodies. There are MANY cars with MUCH worse places, a quick one that comes to mind is the dodge intrepid which requires removal of the passenger wheel and splash shield to slide the battery out.

Ok so now this has happened twice! Both times parked in a garage. All the cables are tight. Could this be the parking sensors? Could this be some setting that will not allow the jeep to shut completely down?

Re: 2014 Summit 1269 miles dead battery

Gonna need to do an ignition-off draw test.

Can you think of anything that is common about what you did leading up to the two events that is different from when you normally park?

And definitely check the grounds in the engine compartment.

How close are your keys to the Jeep overnight? Think I read somewhere on here if the keys are close to the Jeep it can kill your battery.

Ok keys are well away from the summit and the dash and console lights are on... is there a proximity sensor that comes on when the jeep is locked and armed?
