2014 WK2 GC overland query

I thought I would put this out to the group. I'm hearing a rubbing/ chaffing sound under the car, beneath the center console (or that's where I think it's coming from). It's not a loud sound, but noticeable.

The sound seems to appear when the car gets above 50-60kmhr, and stays until the car stops. It becomes less pronounced when your say on the freeway doing 100kmhr. If you go over bumps in the road, it seems to stop for a fraction and return. When you accelerate, it disappears, but returns.

Seems to me it could be something that's loose, and the rubbing/ chaffing frequency is the same as the shaft rotation frequency. I'm not really sure.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

I had a noise like this in my previous car. (not a Jeep) Turned out to be a loose park brake cable being bounced around by the shaft at various speeds.

There had been reports a while back of stickers on a drive shaft coming partially off, a slapping on something. Just one more thing to look for when you're under the Jeep.

Thanks bill. What did you mean by 'stickers' exactly?

Re: 2014 WK2 GC overland query

There are often paper labels glued to the shafts. They have part numbers and other information.

If you buy new tires and they fail to remove the labels, they can cause a scary noise if you don't know what it is.

Good luck!
