Re: 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Headlights Flickering

ive posted videos of mine. The major flashing like strobe lights was fixed but the little flicker is still there. Going to discuss a buy back as much as I don't want to do all that. Im not getting stuck with this down the road. The voltage meter jumps around like crazy still also

Not yet, but has become a sore subject, at least for myself. After multiple trips to the dealership for this issue I am repeatedly told "we are unable to reproduce". Offer a video of the flickering and the response back- "we must reproduce". Offer to show a video of the flickering just for sanity and the response back- "no thank you", yet the service writer will refer to the issue as "allegedly" when conferenced with "Jeep Cares".

As you can see, I've been driven to form a perception of Jeep quality going right down the tubes since FCA's acquisition, where low frequency brake squeal during stop and go traffic has become known as "characteristic of the vehicle", among the other petter issues that have become the reality of owning a 40K vehicle from FCA.

FWIW- A pair of XD extreme w/Phillips and the new anti-flicker module eliminated the halogen flicker. My educated guess as to why- The HID ballast capacitor maintains current during voltage drops that would normally cause halogen flicker.

Re: 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Headlights Flickering

I have been dealing with this for nearly a year. The dealer, with help from Jeep Technical, have tried 6 times to repair, with no luck. I have spent hours on the phone with Jeep Customer Service. To my knowledge, there is not a TSB or fix for this issue. I noticed the flickering the first night I drove it and had it in the shop within a month of owning the vehicle. My videos are on Youtube.

Recently this winter, I have had some close calls with the flickering. It is more than just a nuisance as some may think, rather it is a major safety issue. There are lots of 4-way stops in my town, and the Jeep has flickered at these intersections at night, inadvertently communicating to the other drivers stopped at the intersection that I want them to go ahead. Luckily I have noticed this each time and have held back before entering the intersection! :-o

Early on (last fall) I went through the National Center for Dispute Settlement and they disappointingly denied my case that the issue did not meet my claim of "substantial defects that impair the use, market value or safety of the vehicle," which is Montana Lemon Law. I was, and still am seeking a replacement vehicle. In retrospect I would not have chosen a "documents only" hearing. Rather, i would have choosen an in-person hearing that would have given me more of an opportunity to explain my case. Furthermore, I did not realized the saftey implications of this defect (the 4-way stop example above) until this winter. I am now debating contacting a lemon law attorney.

So far Jeep has only offered me small compensation for the time the vehicle has been in the shop and an extended warranty, the later of which has not happened and now I cannot get my rep at Jeep to call me back! I have been very patient and very reasonable throughout the entire process.

Its pretty frustrating to own a brand new $40K vehicle with a significant defect that no one can seem to fix and that Jeep is not willing to fairly deal with. Otherwise, I love my Jeep, just not at night, when it would be nice to have reliable headlights.
