2016 Cherokee KL Voice Recognition not working

Drove my KL home from the dealership just over a week ago. Overall, things seemed fine for its first 99 miles on the odometer. However, Voice Recognition does not work. Uconnect customer service advises that Voice Recognition should work to control local functions such as temperature, radio station selections, iPod use, etc., without a paired Bluetooth phone. However, the local Jeep dealership service tech is certain Voice Recognition requires a paired Bluetooth phone to do anything.

Anyone using Voice Recognition features without a paired Bluetooth phone? TIA.

I have the 5" screen, but I still used voice recognition to change the stations and audio sources prior to installing my phone. If you have the 8.4 screen, I believe you can also use climate controls... without installing a BT phone.

Wifiwanderer, Uconnect customer service was correct in the fact that Voice Recognition should work to control local functions, (i.e. temperature, radio) without a connected Bluetooth. Functions such as voice to text and calling, a phone would need to be paired with the system via Bluetooth to work.

I would recommend bringing your vehicle back to your local certified FCA dealership for a further diagnosis, if you need any additional assistance please send me a PM.

Smile 2016 Cherokee KL Voice Recognition working

Few days ago, tried 2 versions of soft reboots of the Uconnect software, but no luck. Today, a Jeep Wave tech suggested turning up the volume, then pressing the Voice Recognition button, again, no luck. After returning the volume to where I wanted it, my finger slipped and pressed the VR button twice in rapid succession. I heard the VR system say, "Cancelled". I pushed the VR button a third time and VR activated for the first time. Gave a verbal instruction to select a radio station and it worked.
