Ahhhh yes the trans temp sensor. The Overland had that replaced. There's a pic of the old burnt up one floating around somewhere on JG. LMAO

Re: 3.7L GC - Limp Mode P0762 P0763 NEED HELP !!!

If he has a aftermarket remote start added, I think it is related to his problems because the hood touches nothing when it is closed, unless you have a remote start.

Maybe your installer ****ed something up bro.

And if you dont have remote start, well this is going to be hard to figure out. LOL

With multiple codes popping up randomly probably a bad circuit somewhere giving out the wrong resistance

gonna take some di-electric cleaner and clean out all the connectors that are visible without dismounting tons of crap

if that fails new harness

On a side note check this pic out it was where the transmission harness connects to the 13-pin lead next to the bellhousing, notice all the exposed wires due to the heat melting them, so if that's there then u can imagine the rest ... also i've been needing engine mounts for a while now cuz my engine shakes side to side and was maybe thinking that in the process of that some wire somewhere caught something and is rubbing and grounding itself along something ... just theories

I'm not that technologically advanced to have remort start

I appreciate the advise though anything helps at this stand point

If so I'd say you have found your primary problem. I hope that it has not caused any secondary issues from them grounding/touching each other.

Get those wires individually insulated (black electrical tape) and then go get some aluminum insulating tape from your local HVAC store and wrap those wires 3 times with the aluminum tape and you should have no more trouble from them.

James yes those are raw wires that the housings were melted due to the bell housing of the tranny. I did separate them and taped each one up individually there were 12 of them and took a while LOL

My main concern is that if that's only what I can see from the plug, then there has to be more ???

Thanks for the advise

Re: 3.7L GC - Limp Mode P0762 P0763 NEED HELP !!!

Did you do the PCM before you found these wires or after? If after you may have taken out a few circuits inside it.

I know on the 5.7 there is only one group of wires that run down by the bell housing. This group contains everything for the trans (input/output shafts, valve body..ect) and t-case switch (hi/lo) and the elsd inside of it (QD2). Other than that there is no other wires.

I'm baffled on how this could have melted as mine are fine and I run very hot. Was this section of wires anywhere near the cats as they are the hottest part of your exhaust?

Get the aluminum tape and wrap your electronics anywhere you are worried about.

I believe these wires were causing all your issues. Once you fix them if you still have the issues I'd look into a new pcm.

Re: 3.7L GC - Limp Mode P0762 P0763 NEED HELP !!!

The real time temperature reading of your tranny fluid is way too high. Not so strange that it goes into limp mode, its just trying to protect the tranny. (at least it thinks its too hot) Is there no tranny overheat light on? Did you check the temperature with the engine running? Check it again with the engine at normal operating temperature, switched off for 10 minutes and hood closed and again same when leaving hood open. Any difference in temp reading?

I replaced the PCM after I found the wires, I taped up the wires on Saturday and it helped the car not get into limp mode while driving

Then replaced the PCM on Monday and still doing it

It's the same thing with the 3.7

Oh trust me I was baffled too but it makes sense, because when that bundle is exiting the transmission there is a metal plate to protect it from the exhaust however the upper portion of the wire makes direct contact with the bellhousing and the cats

That is the mission tonight, wrap all wires and electronics and use contact cleaner to see what I can do.

Thanks for the advise

We checked the temp with IR gun on Saturday and it was reading around the same as engine temp when HOT. While the scanner was showing 400F
At this point pretty convinced it's electrical, because the transmission operates normal, however I always get that "transmission over temp" display right before crank

I really appreciate everyones input and support on this still trying to figure out to what it can be ...
