Re: 5.7 L with smoking issues at start up

Had this come up again a few months ago. Turned out that the dipstick was not accurate for what amount of oil was needed. They put in 7 qts and the dipstick reads toward the very bottom of the dipstick. I think I've been running on too much oil for 15k miles. All clear now that only 7 qts are in

Dipstick is not correct on mine and a lot of other peoples also. 7 quarts brings it to the add a quart line. I never saw anywhere that a final determination was made on what caused it, dip stick, dip stick tube, pan to deep who knows.

Re: 5.7 L with smoking issues at start up

Chrysler customer service said it was the dipstick but maybe it's one of the other things you mentioned. It's major issue that should see some clarity since it causes such issues.
They replaced my valve stems and guides and likely didn't need to. Even bigger prob, no one knows about this outside word of mouth or by finding out the hard way. I've told all the people I know who have new
GCs

Re: 5.7 L with smoking issues at start up

That's great. So when you change the oil, are they careful to put in just 7qts or do they just fill it to the full line on the dipstick?

Re: 5.7 L with smoking issues at start up

Blue smoke at startup this morning but this time it was after having been parked in my garage since Friday. First time it's smoked after being parked on flat ground. I love the car but this things gotta be a lemon
