Hi, guys. Three mechanics have all gladly taken my money to tell me to junk my Cherokee because they can't find the solution to my problem. It really may be two separate issues. The jeep is running real rich (heavy smoke) and coughing. It will stall at idle also. Pretty much undrivable now. I got the computer rebuilt and it didn't solve the problem. For some reason, a second mechanic changed the fuel pump (for $800, negotiated to $600
) and it did nothing positive. A third guy was going to change the injectors with little confidence it would help. All of them are approaching the issue as mechanical. But at the same time there is a drain on the battery somewhere. It will be dead in one week if left alone. Does anyone have any thoughts before I have to junk the vehicle. For me, cars are like old dogs, and old grandparents. Give them TLC, and keep them going for as long as is possible.
