96 cherokee gas gauge moves when I press the clutch in and let out?

The fuel gauge moves down when I depress the clutch pedal and rises when I let off?? What can this be?

It does it like this when standing still and just pressing the clutch pedal, or when driving and pressing the clutch pedal?

I would first check the battery voltage with engine off and with engine running. Maybe the alternator is on its way out.
