Annoying noise from muffler

I had this noise for a while but i always thought it was the shock... i got a new shock today and realized it was the part that holds the tail pipe up...

Anyone have this problem? or know how to keep that black thing in place to keep the tail pipe from bouncing up and down?

Thanks

Re: Annoying noise from muffler

I think that hanger allows for some free play Hector, especially since its mostly rubber.

Is it the muffler or the tail pipe that's moving? Perhaps you could go get another hanger welded on at a shop...

Re: Annoying noise from muffler

sry yeah the tail pipe let me fix that. i think most of the rubber is gone which is why there is so much free play... since you the exhaust expert... lol do have any idea how much that would cost or where i could find one?

Re: Annoying noise from muffler

The dealer would definitely be able to get you one, or I would even try your local exhaust shop. Might not be the exact same thing as the dealer, but it could be better, and most likely will be cheaper.

Re: Annoying noise from muffler

It looks like the rubber is worn at the hole where the metal hanger goes thru. Measure the distance between both holes on that rubber piece and try and find the same at an auto store. They are cheap there. And it looks like theres oil on it or something, that might be letting it slide and move arond also.

Re: Annoying noise from muffler

Perhaps its brake fluid...hope you don't have a leak in the brake lines somewhere...

Check your brake fluid level in the master cylinder. Put your finger on the fluid and see what color it is. Isnt brake fluid red I wanna say? Maybe its just overspray from that WD40.

Re: Annoying noise from muffler

Jack up that side and take the wheel off, then inspect the calipers and brake line. Might be something simple that got loose maybe. I just had my TPMS going off daily because one of my tires was losing air, I was going to take it to a tire shop but they were all closed so I removed the tire and inspected it spraying soapy water everywhere to finally find the air leak at the valve stem. I was able to tighten it down and fixed it on my own, its been perfect for days now.
