Re: anti theif sys

Welcome to tbe garage.
Which computer was changed, the SKIM (sentry key immobilizer module)? If so, then also the PCM (powertrain control module) will need to know this by some programming.
What was the reason for the change?

Re: anti theif sys

Did the stealer change the PCM? It needs to be programmed as well with the SKIM secret code.

Re: anti theif sys

What you call ECM (engine control module) is called PCM (powertrain control module) for jeeps.
I wonder if they can preprogram the SKIM secret code, because it normally will be retreived from the SKIM using the DRBIII scanner. They could have disabled the SKIS system, but apparantly they didnīt.
How did your problem start? Did the stealer use the DRBIII scanner to come to the conclusion that the PCM was bad?

Re: anti theif sys

No, only replacing the PCM doesn't require new keys. The keys contain a secret code, which is stored in PCM and the SKIM . When changing or the PCM or SKIM, the code must be transferred. When replacing both PCM and SKIM, you need new keys.

Re: anti theif sys

If which was changed is the engine computer (PCM), no.
The keys are programmed to the SKIM, but the PCM should receive the SKIM secret code.
Normally that is done with the use of a DRBIII scanner on the jeep. I have no idea how they can program the PCM in advance with the SKIM secret code.
When an invalid key is inserted, the SKIS light will flash and not stay on solid.
