Re: Anyone know roughly how much this will cost to repair?

No it just needs to be resealed wherever its leaking... axle seals, pinion seal, diff cover. on the JK there is a drain and fill plug so its much cleaner than the WK platform, you can predrain the fluid before you pop the cover off (if this is where the leak is). If its leaking at an axle tube it needs an axle housing but even then the ring and pinion is reusable.

And no, maintainence is not covered by your warranty as you knew, all of these parts are wear items that would not be covered. IF it needs and axle housing this would be covered with the 3/36 basic warranty.

Great information. Now I guess to question the jeep dealership mechanic to state all this if it is just cleaning it (drain, seal and refill) I'm assuming it doesn't cost 300-350 to do. Does that cost I wonder is to actually replace the actual differentials? Why would they replace it altogether if that was all it needed to be done. Hmmm

that is just for the fluid swap. the actual differentials would cost you thousands to replace. fluid is a regular maintance change, learn how to do it yourself and save a ton of money over the life of your vehicle

Differential leaking is typically the gasket, which will be replaced (in some manor) when changing the fluid (servicing)

As i stated on a WK yes but on the JK there is a drain and fill plug on the housing and cover respectively... there are some that dont even remove the cover on the WK such as spiffy lube, they suck and fill NEVER pop the cover, I am VERY curious how much fluid they actually get out (not that they care).

300 is pretty steep for a front and rear diff service but if they are talking replacing a seal too then it makes sence.

Honestly, I would look at the cover, I work with some guys that list moist looking covers as "leaking"... I am more of a 15k service or accumulating fluid means its leaking.
