Re: Autostick Not Working!

In an srt because you have the NAG trans its going to be your ESM (electronic shift module) search around, I have seen links on here to other forums reguarding dissassembling the "shift bezel" and cleaning the contacts which restores its function. I cannot speak on the longevity of this repair as I dont have personal experience with it but seems what I read was pretty positive.

It may be a similar concern with the RFE, I have never separated the bezel from the shifter to see exactly how similar in function minus some brains.

Re: Autostick Not Working!

I'm having the same problem with my 05 "autostick". Damn thing just decided to stop working. Followed a thread on cleaning contacts in the ESM but it did nothing. I'm thinking its the TCM...ANY THOUGHTS? Out of warranty and live in a rural setting...not easy getting tech help on these computer issues.

No you likely still have a fault in the esm... Tcm is MUCH MUCH less likely. They rarely fail.

Re: Autostick Not Working!

Thanks for the reassurance that its the esm, I was going to send my tcm out to have it fixed. Yesterday I pulled everything apart again and was more aggressive with my cleaning, and I put tiny bits of dialectric grease into the pin connectors- ITS WORKING AGAIN! THANK YOU THANK YOU

So how does the autostick work right ? Like I posted some time I think my stick never worked right or maybe it does work right. I got the 05 with 4x4 5.7 QD, the only time my autostick worked if I was going down steep hills in the mountain to down shift to slow tran and up shift back to drive, is this the way it works I have never got it to let me shift on a take off or moving on flat ground. I move it + or - does nothing or is not going to work that way.

Thanks
Chris

Re: Autostick Not Working!

It doesnt force a shift it requests a shift, it limits your top gear to what is set but will shift below it, it doesnt want people knocking it into 5 th then driving all over town in 5th melting down a poor torque converter. Yours sounds to be functioning as designed Chris.
