Re: Battery runs flat on 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel

I have a 2011 GC 70th anniversary since new. I am on the 4th battery. It has been back and forth to the dealer and every time they have it, the dame thing works okay after they charge the battery. It now has been with them for 10 days and no findings. Jeep in Wangara Western Australia have been over and above with my patience and with the car but we need to find a solution. Can anyone help so I can have my Jeep back for a reliable start. Nick

I can't speak to the problem you seem to be having. My problem was fixed with a firmware update that finally showed up 6 months after I bought the vehicle. The initial workaround was to disconnect my rearview mirror. Case number S1408000045 describes the symptom and reason. Sorry I can't be more help.

Thank you for your time. I have email your response to the Manager and have told him I would forward further help. It's just a pain when it happens at home and when it's in the hands of Jeep, the damm things behaves. I feel so bad for them as they are putting in a lot of time.

All the best

Nick

My 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel has the same problem. The dealer replaced the battery about 2 months ago, but the issue remains as the new battery is now dead after 6 days. Did you find a fix? Thanks.

Re: Battery runs flat on 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel

Hi, well, we think so. It's now been 6 weeks since the battery has gone flat. I put in a modem to have the DVD player play as I drive. This was telling the TIPM to look for the radio while the car was turned off. Jeep have also done many software upgrades after the installers of the modem disconnected it, removed the battery, reconnected the modem then reconnected the battery. This way it all shut down together. On the last check from Jeep, the computer readout still says the radio (buss) is open but it's still going good. I still fear that one morning it will let me down but with all the help from Wanneroo Jeep in Perth, I feel as though it's going to work. Good luck.

Re: Battery runs flat on 2014 Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel

I have a 2012 GC 3.6L 4x4. Battery would flatten while I was away on a FIFO job. Since LOCKING the vehicle while it is garaged and not being driven, the problem seems to have gone (I hope!).
It appears that too many little things are drawing power while the vehicle is laid up. They/re on "stand-by" mode. Locking it seems to shut these things down completely, or so the service chap at Ballarat Jeep tells me...... Dunno, I'm not a sparky.
Did have a few other small electrical niggles in the past, but they seem to have righted themselves (again, I hope!). Mainly to do with the "media centre".

My 2014SRT has a battery drain problem as well, I have been away for seven weeks and my son tells me my jeep won't start, maybe I'll have to look into locking it with the key
